Bennett Rd is among those named not for landowners, but for professional men. Bennett Rd. which extends from Liberty Square to the restored stone and wood gatehouse that once formed the entrance to the Phelps estate, is named for William Bennett manager of the estate. Bennett was a member of the town committee for many years; in fact, he served as a civic leader in both Englewood and and Teaneck. [1]
