David J. McKenna is notable for having served as Mayor of Englewood from 1919-1921. He championed the construction of what is now the old City Hall as a memorial to servicemen, and tried, unsuccessfully, to convince Englewood Cliffs to return to being a part of Englewood . In March 1917 he served a a committeeman under a prior Mayor for the Committee for Public Safety.
