Douglas Gillespie Thomson, Sr. is notable as having served as Mayor of Englewood from 1926-29. [1]. In 1913, on the same ticket that elected Mayor Vernon Munroe, he was elected to the City Council in the third ward, over Louis Weber, by 135 votes [2]. 1919 he was elected President of the City Council, under Mayor David J. McKenna [1].He was elected to a second term under Mayor Blake, and [3] In 1919, when Mayor Blake resigned to become Captain of the Signal corps, he was voted in to the office of President of the City Council. [4] In 1920 when Mayor McKenna was re-elected, he was again in the Presidency of the Coucil. [5] He succeeded to the office of Mayor when Mayor Blake entered the service [6].

Role in Lindbergh Kidnapping

Mayor Thompson was alcose friend of Charles Lindbergh's, and was asked by Col. Lindbergh to act as intermediary in the case in communication with the criminals, having been instructed to cooperate fully with the perpetrators should contact occur. [7][8]
