Lt.-Col. Harriot Van Devanter Moore is notable as having served as Mayor of Englewood from 1924-25. He resided on Hamilton Ave, where a fire some eyars earlier threatened his home and was the source of much discussion about creating an Englewood fire department. He served the war effort in company F, rising to the rank of Colonel. In 1919 he bacame commander of the then fledgling Engleweood Post of the American Legion .m At the 1921 election which placed Clarence D. Kerr in the Mayors office, then Lt.-Col. H.V. D Moore was elected to the Councilman-at-large seat .
