Joseph T. Carney - was senior government relations officer with Midlantic National Bank/Citizens. A former City Clerk, City of Englewood, and Republican County Chairman, he was past-president, International Institute of Municipal Clerks, trustee of Englewood Hospital Association, chairman of the Hospital Building Fund, and chairman, Englewood Community Chest. Mr. Carney was a member of New Jersey World Trade Committee, the Committee to Employ the Handicapped, St. Cecilia’s Parish, Bergen County Development Council and the first president of the Englewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He served firve years with the Army in World War II. Mr. Carney’s father was a member of Englewood’s first paid Fire Department, and was cited for bravery on several occasions for heroic action at fires. [1]
