Lawrence Suffern - Our 16th Chief of Police, is a life-long resident of Englewood. He graduated from Dwight Morrow High School and joined the Englewood Police Department in 1988 upon graduating from Class 61 of the Bergen County Police Academy and was assigned to the Detective Bureau in 1994. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1997, Acting Lieutenant in 2004 and Deputy Chief/Executive Officer in 2009.  and, upon Arthur O'Keefe's retiring on Jan. 13, 2013, became Chief on Jan. 1. 2014.
