Shepard Bartnoff, PhD, in 1979, was president, Jersey Central Power & Light Co. A former director of Environmental Affairs for General Public Utilities Corp., he has held various positions with Westinghouse Electric Co., and was on the faculty, Tufts University, and executive officer of their physics department. He obtained his Ph.D. from MIT, where he also was engaged in a research project on piezoelectricity and radar meteorology, followed by studies in radar meteorology at the Air Force Cambridge Research Center. A registered professional engineer, Dr. Bartnoff was a member of the American Physical Society, American Nuclear Society, and American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is trustee for the United Jewish Fund, Englewood, the Stevens Institute of Technology, and the New Jersey Safety Council. [1]
